In its endeavour to take skilling and vocational education to the next level, SkillEd India has set up 14 KEDMAN labs in different districts of Haryana within a span of 15 months, with the first model lab being set up and inaugurated in November 2018. The KEDMAN labs or KED labs are computer labs that have been set up in government schools after a complete revamp of the infrastructure in an area identified in the school, to enable the operation of a fully-equipped computer lab with internet connectivity. These labs facilitate the imparting of the digital vocational curriculum developed by SkillEd India using the Swedish KED methodology. The vocational subjects currently being taught in these labs are Retail, IT & ITeS and Beauty & Wellness.
Each KEDMAN lab is equipped with:
- 21 laptops and mouse
- Dongles for internet connectivity
- An overhead projector
- Tables and chairs for the laptops and students
- A table and chair for the teacher
- A steel almirah to store the laptops safely after the sessions are over
The KED labs have been inaugurated by honourable ministers and MLAs from Haryana. They have received wide appreciation and acknowledgement from government bodies, school principals, and the parent community for implementing innovative tools that are transforming the teaching of vocational subjects in government schools.
